From Principles to Practice – A UKCORR webinar

On 25 September 2025, CORE was invited by the UK Council of Open Research and Repositories (UKCORR)  to present a webinar for their members, titled “From Principles to Practice: Making Repository Content Discoverable with the CORE Data Provider’s Guide.” The session focused on one of the most pressing challenges for repository managers, namely ensuring that their content is not just indexed but is also visible, accessible, and interoperable across the global scholarly ecosystem. The webinar introduced the CORE Data Provider’s Guide, a structured, three-layered framework covering best-practice in three distinct areas; repository configuration, metadata configuration, and full-text configuration.

At the heart of the discussion was CORE’s mission: to provide unrestricted access to open research for everyone while empowering repositories to surface their outputs more effectively. By following the guidance outlined, repositories can boost their visibility in discovery services, and ultimately contribute to a more open and connected research landscape.

The Data Provider’s guide is relevant for both existing data providers and repository managers generally. The session also showcased practical tools available in the CORE Dashboard, enabling repository managers to monitor repository health, detect issues early, and continuously improve discoverability.

This collaborative and well-attended event underscored CORE’s dedication to supporting the repository community, ensuring that research outputs do not remain hidden but reach the widest possible audience. Whatever your role in the repositories ecosystem, the insights shared provide actionable steps to enhance interoperability and reinforce the collective mission of advancing global open access. For those who missed it, the full recording of the webinar is available here.
