We are pleased to share that CORE and The Open University have renewed our partnership with Jisc, continuing to provide UK institutions with access to CORE Membership through the Jisc Licence Subscriptions Manager (LSM) Platform from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2028.
This renewal reflects our ongoing commitment to the UK research community, supporting open, reliable infrastructure for repository indexing, metadata quality, and FAIR-aligned research outputs. By maintaining this continuity, UK institutions can continue to benefit from CORE’s tools and services for enhancing the discoverability, visibility, and open access compliance monitoring of research outputs.
Supporting Institutions Through Stability
For over a decade, CORE has worked to provide a repository platform-independent, not-for-profit, community-governed service that helps universities strengthen their repository practices, metadata quality, and research outputs discoverability. CORE’s collaboration with Jisc is a reflection of our shared vision and mission in creating sustainable, community-driven open scholarly infrastructure.
Petr Knoth, Founder and Head of CORE, commented:
“I would like to wholeheartedly thank all UK academic institutions that have supported CORE and took part in our Membership programme around its inception in 2022-23 as we transitioned from being grant-funded to a community-funding model. This support enabled us to sustain CORE and grow it for the last three years. I am excited to continue serving you and invite you to participate in our community governance to shape our future and the future of open science.”
“Jisc is pleased to renew our agreement with CORE until 2028. CORE represents a vital piece of open research infrastructure and we are pleased to continue enabling UK institutions to support CORE’s vision. We encourage institutions to explore membership options on our Licence Subscriptions Manager.” – Anna Vernon, Head of Research, Licensing, Jisc.”
Multi-Year Membership Options
UK institutions can continue to maintain their membership through multi-year arrangements, providing a predictable and long-term pathway to access CORE services. This supports sustained work in repository indexing, metadata validation, and FAIR-aligned research practices, ensuring continuity and avoiding disruption to institutional workflows.
We recognise that many UK institutions are operating under increasing financial pressure. For this reason, CORE Membership for UK universities can be supported through the UK block grant funding model, helping institutions sustain access to essential open research infrastructure as part of their existing open access and research support activities. In addition, CORE offers multi-year membership discounts to help reduce long-term costs, and we are always happy to work with institutions to explore the most appropriate and sustainable options for their circumstances.

Commitment to Open Infrastructure
This renewal is about continuity, trust, and shared commitment. CORE, The Open University, and Jisc remain dedicated to providing the UK research community with open infrastructure that enables long-term visibility, accessibility, and compliance of scholarly content.
We encourage all UK institutions to review these updated membership options and continue benefiting from the CORE Dashboard and related services that support the broader mission of open research.
