In November 2025, CORE publicly announced its strategic support for the creation of the Ukrainian open repositories community, led by the Scientific and Technical Library of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. At the time, we described this partnership as both a strategic and deeply personal commitment rooted in solidarity, collaboration, and long-term investment in Ukraine’s open research infrastructure.
Today, that commitment continues in practice.
On 25 February 2026, CORE will take part in a dedicated webinar hosted in partnership with The KPI Library, designed specifically for Ukrainian librarians, researchers, and repository administrators and delivered in Ukrainian.
This event is more than a knowledge-sharing session. It is a concrete step in building capacity, strengthening local expertise, and supporting a sustainable, nationally coordinated open repositories ecosystem.
Supporting open science locally and globally
As the world’s largest indexer of open access research, CORE works with repositories across every region of the world. But scale alone is not enough. Meaningful support requires meeting communities where they are linguistically, technically, and institutionally.
By hosting this webinar in Ukrainian, and in close collaboration with national leaders in open science, CORE aims to reduce barriers to participation and ensure that repository professionals can engage fully with the tools, standards, and practices that underpin global discoverability.
The session will focus on both strategic and practical questions, including:
- What CORE is and why it is a key infrastructure for open science
- How libraries can increase the visibility and discoverability of their repositories through indexing
- Practical capabilities of the CORE Dashboard, including statistics, metadata quality, and repository monitoring
- The role of libraries in the sustainable development of institutional repositories
This webinar is a practical example of CORE’s ongoing support for the Ukrainian open repositories community moving beyond announcements to hands-on engagement. By sharing practical guidance, tools, and local-language support, the session helps repository teams strengthen discoverability, improve metadata quality, and connect more effectively to the global open research ecosystem.
